China

Hello,

We are leaving for Costa Rica today for a two week adventure. So I am posting a few pictures from our trip to China last spring to entertain you all while we are gone and to give you an idea of how I work while traveling. The headline China is a link to a slideshow from the trip if you have time check it out.

Ciao for now, Kent

Hello,

Last night was The Mask Project Gala at Cherry Creek Mall. Its a benefit for Hospice of Metro Denver. Masks created by national and local celebrities, politicians, artists and kids are being auctioned at www.THEMASKPROJECT.org
The theme this year was "Viva Las Vegas" an evening featuring the sights and sounds of this world-famous party town. Geri and I had a blast and here are a few pictures.

Holocaust Survivors

Hello,

Today I want to share with you some photographes that I made of a group of Denver area Holocaust Survivors. I was asked by a couple of photographer friends, Jill Kaplan and Rhoda Pollack to help take a group picture of what we thought was going to be about 60 men and women survivors. It turned out to be about 76!
We decided that we should try to make the picture more interesting by doing a candle light kind of moment of silence. In addition to the big group picture we decided to make portraits of as many of the individuals as possible before and after the group picture and during the group picture we also focus in on people.
This was a very powerful experience in that I have rarely made so many images that didn't involve any smiling just very deep stares. Everyone was very helpful and thankful that we took time to connect with each of them in a special way.
The pictures are going to be used in slideshow at up coming event downtown at the Performing Arts Center.
I will post a few images here on my blog, however, please click on the headline to this story and go to the slideshow link. Everytime I see this show I can't help but cry. Not for myself but for people I saw in the eyes of these survivors.

Peace, Kent

Mating butterflies at the Butterfly Pavilion in Denver.

Geno, our neighbors new burnesse mountain dog puppy.

Ashby, our neighbor girl.

Bleed Hearts in my backyard.

Hi folks,

I am back from the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International Convention and a long weekend trip to Vancouver Canada. The convention was a world class whirl wind with more than 7,000 photographers. I attended at least 16 speaker presentations including one by my friend Mark Cafiero on defining your business and personal vision among other things. I will attach a couple of photos of Mark from his class.
Seeing old friends and making new friends at the convention who are all pumped up about creating the best photography for themselves and their clients will push me to be even better!
Now on to Vancouver, Geri my wife and I, traveled with the Colorado Avalanche Hockey team for a game against the Canucks. The Av's lost in overtime but it was a great game. Please see the photo of Geri getting chomped by there mascot, Fin. I thnk its a whale.
We had a good time walking around town eating and drinking. Its a very international up scale sort of city with a large asian population as well as lots of asian tourists.
On Saturday we took a ferry boat over to a fun indoors and outdoors market full of food, flowers and artists. The boat rides were as much fun as shopping.
I expected Vancouver to be more like Seatle or maybe San Franisco but it has a feel all its own.
Tomorrow, April 22, is Earth Day so I thought I would share some recent earthy pictures.
One of our neigbor girl Ashby, who came over to get you ball out of our back yard and the light on our front porch was beautiful back lit.
Another is one of our other neighbors new puppy geno, a Burnese Mountain dog.
One of my favorite spring flowers, bleeding hearts, made for a great shot this morning before breakfast.
And the last picture is on a pair of mating butterflies.

Happy Earth Day, Kent

First Wedding of 2006

Hello Kent here, I want to introduce you to Dave & Kathleen. One of their favorite things to do is eat and drink so we finished their lifestyle photo session at a very fun restuarant Lola's on South Pearl St. in Denver. Fast forward from there to The Oxford Hotel Jan. 6th. Dave saw
Kathleen all dressed for their wedding for the first time in the hall way to their suite. What a wonderful moment. From there they wanted to go to the Cruiseroom Bar in the lobby of the hotel. A very cool 50's style martini bar. What a great place to make pictures. I had wanted to do pictures in there for years and this was perfect. Then we did a few pictures out front of the hotel where Kathleen touched up her make up in the side miror of the Rolls Royce before going to the ceremony at The Holy Ghost Church. It was a long catholic service and the church was still all dressed up from Christmas! The receiption was held at Il Fornaio, a great Italian resturant around the corner from The Oxford. Oh and I almost forgot to mention the fact that Kathleen makes wedding cakes for a living! She had cakes on every table with table numbers, and a beautiful bigger cake in front of the fire place. Kathleen is a co-owner of Gateaux. Please see the link on the side if you need a specialty cake. One of the last pictures of the night cracked me up when I saw the ring bearer and a flower go up and sit at the bar while waiting for their parents. It was like seeing Kathleen and Dave as children.

Enjoy, and check out the link to see a slideshow of this amazing day! Kent
