Jay and Alexandra's Denver Botanic Gardens Wedding

I would like to introduce Mr. and Mrs. Ragozzino! You may remember Alex and Jay from their engagement photo session last Janurary which was one of the coldest days of last winter. They played around in the steam rising out of a manhole cover in the street downtown.
The weather was much better for their wedding over Memorial Day weekend at the Denver Botanic Gardens. If you would like to see a slideshow of their wedding CLICK HERE: Jay and Alexandra wedding. The party started at The Magnolia Hotel in downtown Denver where I met up with Alex and her family then her father drove her to the wedding in his Porsche.
The Denver Botanic Gardens are hosting a Big Bug's Exhibit which became a sub theme to the wedding.Denver Botanic Gardens
The weather couldn't have been better. The temperature was in the 70's and flowers were blooming everywhere!
The ceremony was short but sweet in The Romanic Gardens including a release of butterflies. After the ceremony we had time for a sunset stroll though some of the gardens where we played with a giant ant.
The reception was held in Gates Hall and the Lobby Court at the gardens.
Cheers, Kent

Bow Wow Vows

Hello, last weekend I decided to combine two of my favorite photo subjects, weddings and dogs at the Howly Muttrimony where a new Guinness Book of World Records was set with 178 dog couples uniting in a ceremony at the Aspen Grove Lifestyle Center in Littleton, Colorado. The mass doggy wedding raised more than $3,000 for the Denver Dumb Friends League.
Betrothed pooches of all shapes and sizes showed up including Pugs, Labradors, Pointers, Chihuahuas, Basset Hounds, Great Danes, English and French Bulldogs, English Mastiff and many more breeds along with a host of mutts. Back Country Telemark Skiing Adventure

Hello, last weekend my friend Sergio Ballivian, talked me into going on one more 10th Mountain Division Hut trip this year. Even though it was late in the season to be skiing, there was tons of snow at the high elevations.
We started by climbing up Copper Mountain, a downhill ski area that was closed for the season, using climbing skins on our skis so we could pretty much walk straight up. Then we hiked out of the area in search of our trail to the hut.
We climbed up the first valley carrying our packs that weighed about 40 pounds to about 12,000 feet in elevation and well above timberline, before we realized we were in the wrong drainage! So we skied around the top of the valley to where we could see into the next valley. We had traveled out of our way but found a wonderful place to ski! We were able to ski down the ridgeline and into the correct valley. Our detour cost us about three hours of time but we had a blast scouting around on an amazingly sunny spring day.
Once at the hut, we met two other groups of skiers who had arrived from two different directions.
The other groups were staying at Janet's Cabin for two nights; Sergio and I were only staying overnight.
We learned from one group that the trail we missed on our way up was mostly muddy, so we figured out a way to ski down rather than hiking and carrying our skis.
We stayed in the trees along the creek. It wasn't easy, but it was a fun challenge. We only had to take our skis off once to cross a small bridge over the creek.
In the end we were rewarded with a downhill ski run on Copper Mountain.
Cheers, Kent
